Peace-Building Manager Location:

Overall purpose of job To manage FAR’s Community Peace Centres in West Darfur, with a focus on life skills and mediation training, nomadic education, livelihoods development, and consultative processes.
Key activities Management
- To manage FAR’s Darfur Community Peace & Stability Fund project to build and develop at least two Community Peace Centres (CPCs) in West Darfur;
- To take the lead in designing a full programme of activities to be held at the CPCs, including life skills training, mediation training, vocational training, and nomadic education;
- To ensure that the construction and operation of the CPCs involves an open and consultative process with all the communities in the area, and to document this process;
- To manage the project budget;
- To manage the project staff team;
- To ensure that donor guidelines are followed, including any relevant procurement and recruitment regulations;
- To report regularly and in a timely fashion to FAR, the donor and local authorities on the status of project implementation and any relevant successes and challenges;
Representation
- To liaise with local authorities to improve understanding of the project and to ensure the project’s smooth operation;
Security
- To assist in monitoring the security situation in the project area, and to inform the Programme Coordinator of any potential risks and recommend appropriate action;
- To assist in monitoring the compliance of office and domestic premises in the field with minimum safety standards;
Cross-cutting
- To be involved in mainstreaming peace-building as a cross-cutting theme across all of FAR’s programmes;
- To provide advice and guidance on nomadic education programmes to FAR in other parts of Sudan;
- To conduct ad hoc training in peace-building for FAR staff and national partners;
Other
- To assist the Programme Coordinator and wider FAR staff team with other work as reasonably required.
