FAR celebrates its 25th Anniversary!
In 2010 FAR Sudan celebrates its 25th Anniversary in Sudan. To commemorate this, 25 projects will be launched during the year within the states and sectors that FAR works in. There are three anniversary projects already underway: the PEACE Project in South Kordofan, the water pump project in Mardais village, South Kordofan, and the trauma counselling programme in West Darfur funded by the US Institute of Peace.
Each small-scale project will address at least one of FAR’s cross-cutting priorities: community empowerment; environmental sustainability; child-centred development; conflict sensitivity; and beneficiary accountability. Projects should also adhere to our core mission and values.
The anniversary year is an exciting one, giving the organisation the chance to reflect on our history and internal development. Yet these projects also look to the future as they promote and strengthen the role of FAR within communities. Collaboration with beneficiaries and community-based organisations will reinforce the community-driven message that FAR seeks to spread.
FAR staff and beneficiaries are invited to submit proposals and ideas for small-scale projects. We are also looking for communities, churches and schools internationally to support these projects by fundraising with us in 2010. If you would like to receive more information on what you can do to help or would like more information on FAR and its projects please get in touch with us.
As well as anniversary projects, FAR will be collecting stories from beneficiaries, staff members and supporters of FAR past and present. If you have any memories or comments about your experiences with FAR please let us know about them (email to Letty at intern@farsudan.org).
We look forward to celebrating with you!
