Construction of the Community Peace Center in Kongo Haraza, West Darfur is now complete.  The space is ready for use as a school, demonstration farm, and training ground.  The site aims to bring together members of pastoral and host communities, groups which have a history of conflict.

Members from all communities were actively involved in building the peace centre.  In addition to a new building, relationships and trust were also built.  For many, it was the first positive interaction they had ever had with members from the other groups.

FAR staff encouraged relationship building between the groups by organizing home visits and communal meals.  Visiting each others homes fostered respect and understanding.  The community is ecstatic about the new space and is keen to see programmes begin.

With the support of the Darfur Community Peace and Stability Fund, FAR is close to completing construction of another Community Peace Center in Arara, West Darfur.
