Background
FAR has been working in Sudan since 1985 and manages a number of development and relief programmes in several areas of the country in sectors such as emergency relief, water & sanitation, health & health promotion, food security and livelihoods and income generation. FAR’s mission is to provide holistic assistance to the most vulnerable. FAR seeks to be a model organisation focusing on capacity building and effective delivery of assistance so that the people with whom we work can take charge of their own development and have a positive impact on those around them.
Overall purpose of job
To be responsible for, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of, FAR’s financial management, including budgeting, reporting, and managing and developing the national staff team.
Key activities
Financial control
|
- To develop, communicate and oversee guidelines on FAR’s internal
procedures and specific donor requirements, including eligibility of
expenses;
- To develop and implement measures to improve financial control, reporting and accounting systems;
- To oversee the disbursement of payroll, cash, transfers to field locations and other payments;

Reporting & monitoring
|
- To liaise with finance staff in Khartoum and field locations to
ensure the accurate and timely completion of financial statements;
- To produce, analyse and distribute internal and external financial
reports on all projects in an accurate and timely manner;
- To prepare and facilitate FAR’s annual audit, individual programme audits and the annual report;

| Development |
- To facilitate the training and development of finance staff in financial management, IT etc as required;
|
| Representation |
- To represent FAR in external finance-related coordination meetings;
- To represent the Country Director in his/her absence where appropriate;
- To liaise with donors and to attend and facilitate donor meetings on finance-related matters;

Other
|
- To assist the Country Director and FAR staff team with other work as reasonably required.
